Or visit the Shipwrights Arms in Helford, http://www.shipwrightshelford.co.uk/about/ just across the River, for great food and lovely views. The local ferry can take you across to the 'picture-postcard' Helford Village from where you can walk to The New Inn, a lovely pub in Manaccan, explore the coastal footpaths to the headland, or stroll along hugging the shore to explore Daphne Du Maurier's Fisherman's Creek. If you love walking there are many walking trails to explore along the coast and inland, you may bump into a few cows on the way! The cottage is within an Area of Outstanding Beauty, and close to National Trust gardens and therefore offers plenty of interesting sub-tropical plants and wildlife to explore. The scenery in the area is magnificent, perfect for artists and photographers who love landscapes.
If you are feeling adventurous you can venture further afield and visit Falmouth, only a 20 minute drive from the cottage, a historic and bustling town full of activities, including; the Phoenix Cinema, Gyllyngdune Gardens, Falmouth Golf Club, fishing trips, cycling, horse riding, art galleries, beautiful beaches with lots of seaside fish and chips and plenty of sailing and water activities, making it the perfect destination for friends, families or couples.
The Cove at Maenporth Beach, Falmouth is a stunning sophisticated modern British restaurant that offers scenic panoramic views of Falmouth Bay and Tapas at the bar.
For the foodies, Falmouth host an Oyster Festival every October to celebrate the oyster dredging season, the native Oyster and the diversity of Cornish seafood, daily cooking demonstrations, real ale and wine stalls, live music, arts and craft stalls, work boat races, a Grand Oyster Parade, shucking competition, a Grand Oyster Draw and plenty of oysters and seafood.
If you love sailing then Helford, Durgan and Port Navas all host Regattas during the summer, and nearby Falmouth hosts a sailing regatta usually during August featuring 7 days of fleet racing for yachts and dayboats in the beautiful Carrick Roads (low Fal estuary) and Falmouth Bar. Races take place daily with prizes to be won and complementary shoreside events for people all ages to enjoy. The famous "Red Arrows" often feature, putting on a aerobatic display.
